![]() ![]() In the end I changed my weapon type and equipped a shield which I intermittently put away to 2-hand. I tried several approaches, all of which seemed very viable. It was easy to learn and come up with a plan that worked for me. The last boss I fought (Champion) was initially fairly challenging but not unfair at all. I know I'm going to rage more eventually, but believe I'll stick with this to the end. ![]() It is very much its own thing, but once you get the hang of it, if you like Souls and are good at Souls, then you will like and be good at this. You have a lot of tools available to help you tailor your build to your style once you figure out what your style is in this game. Combat (so far) is very fair, and punishes you just enough. ![]() It has made me rage a couple of times but that's a good thing because I was being greedy and deserved my losses. This game is beautiful, it runs well, and it's fun. It's also extremely safe to explore and test, as there are "bonfires" everywhere (so far at least) including right next to the bosses. You can do this without wasting a ton of stat points as well, since there are plenty of early weapons to test out that don't need much investment. You need to look at stats and test things, and choose a path you want to go down. Although I'm opting for speed, which you can absolutely attain. It is very fluid and controllable, and with proper timing even the slowest weapons can be utilized nicely. The people voting this game down over its controls and combat just didn't figure it out. I'm glad I did because it turns out the issues I was having stemmed from lack of understanding of the mechanics. After initially finding the game too clunky and considering refunding it, I remembered feeling this way with The Surge, which I ended up loving. ![]()
